Yankees Sign Dominican Shortstop Ronny Rojas For $1 Million
Dominican shortstop Ronny Rojas, the No. 11 international prospect on Baseball America’s Top 50 international prospect rankings, has signed with the Yankees for $1 million.
Rojas, a 6-foot, 170-pound switch-hitter, became eligible to sign once he turned 16 on Aug. 23. Baseball America subscribers can read a full scouting report on Rojas, who trained at the MB Academy.
The Rojas signing gives the Yankees four players from BA’s Top 50 in their 2017-18 international class since the signing period opened on July 2. The Yankees also signed Venezuelan outfielder Everson Pereira (the No. 5 prospect), Venezuelan shortstop Roberto Chirinos (No. 20) and Dominican outfielder Anthony Garcia (No. 28).
