Yankees Beat Reds In Area Code Games Action
LONG BEACH, Calif.—The Yankees scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for a 4-3 win over the Reds on Monday at the 2016 Area Code Games.
Nick Storz (Poly Prep Country Day, Brooklyn, N.Y.) started for the Yankees and finished with five strikeouts over three innings, giving up only one run.
Blake Paugh (Chaparral High, Scottsdale, Ariz.) powered the Reds’ offense with a double in the first and a triple in the fourth inning.
“I was focused on staying through the ball,” Paugh said. He said his goal throughout the showcase is to increase the number of his quality at-bats, and not give any away.
Andrew Papantonis (Delbarton High, Morristown, N.Y.) hit a two-run home run in the third for the Yankees. Papantonis said he was trying not to do too much at the plate and wants to improve his ability to make contact.
Crosby Bringhurst (Taylorsville (Utah) High) pitched two scoreless innings for the Reds and had three strikeouts.
