Q: With the trades the White Sox have made, can we see what a revised White Sox Top 10 would look like?

BA:
No team has rebuilt its farm system this season as completely and as quickly as the White Sox.

In the span of the Winter Meetings, the White Sox went from a team filled with significant stars but lacking in the depth and upper-level minor league talent to compete in the American League Central, to one that is much worse in the big leagues but dramatically improved in the minors.

There were likely even more trades to come with valuable veterans like David Robertson, Jose Quintana and Todd Frazier still on the big league roster, but the moves to trade Chris Sale to the Red Sox and Adam Eaton to the Nationals already have reworked the organization dramatically.

Before these two trades, the White Sox had a farm system that was solidly in the bottom third of the league. The team’s Top 10 was led by 2016 first-round pick Zack Collins and a pair of likely relievers (Zack Burdi and Carson Fulmer). It is possible that the White Sox would have had three Top 100 Prospects, but it’s also possible that they would have one, as Collins was the only sure-bet to crack February’s list.

Now, Chicago has a farm system that will have anywhere from five to seven Top 100 prospects, led by Yoan Moncada, a candidate to be No. 1 on the list. Moncada’s trade to Chicago also allows him to move back to second base, his most comfortable position. His plus arm fits at third as well, but Moncada moved to third last year because he was blocked by Dustin Pedroia in Boston.

New trade acquisitions fill the top three spots on the White Sox’s updated Top 10 and six of the Top 10 spots overall.

The White Sox Top 10 now lines up as:

1. Yoan Moncada, 2b/3b
2. Lucas Giolito, rhp
3. Reynaldo Lopez, rhp
4. Zack Collins, c
5. Michael Kopech, rhp
6. Zack Burdi, rhp
7. Luis Alexander Basabe, of
8. Carson Fulmer, rhp
9. Spencer Adams, rhp
10. Dane Dunning, rhp
