VIDEO: Vlad Jr. Homers Twice, Once Off A Hotel
I’m not sure what else to say about Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Today, I wrote about how he’s one of the best teenage hitters I’ve ever seen, a 19-year-old with gigantic raw power, outstanding plate discipline and the plate coverage to hammer any pitch in any part of the strike zone.
Tonight, Guerrero topped anything he has done thus far in his brief time with Double-A New Hampshire, hitting two home runs against Portland. He got warmed up this afternoon, launching one ball out of the stadium.
As much fun as it is to watch Guerrero take BP, he’s even more impressive in the games. Here’s his first home run of the night, which cleared the fence in left field.
That home run looked modest relative to what he did later in the game, blasting his second home run of the night, this one off the Hilton Garden Inn beyond the left field wall.
Guerrero is hitting .398/.453/.673 with five home runs, 12 walks and 12 strikeouts through 25 games. I wouldn’t expect him to spend much more time facing Double-A pitchers.
