Shohei Otani Cranked A Mammoth Home Run
While Shohei Otani wasn’t able to join Samurai Japan for the World Baseball Classic because of an ankle injury, he appears to be in regular season form in Japan’s spring training.
In an exhibition game today, the Fighters’ slugger/ace hit a tape-measure home run that went deep into the right center field seats.

Otani hit 22 home runs and slugged .588 as Hokkaido’s designated hitter last year. He also went 10-4, 1.86 with 174 strikeouts in 140 innings. One of the better power hitters in Nippon Professional Baseball, he also is the league’s hardest-ever thrower.
