SEE IT: Yankees, Rangers Affiliates Brawl After Home Run
A relatively pedestrian game between the Charleston RiverDogs and Hickory Crawdads got a little bit spicy on Friday night after Sherten Apostel hit a long home run. The Rangers’ infield prospect admired his longball, and didn’t drop his bat until he reached the first-base coach’s box.
When he got to home plate, Charleston catcher and Yankees prospect Anthony Seigler started barking at Apostel. He and teammate Melvin Novoa apparently did not like what they heard from Seigler and started jawing back. Things quickly escalated and a full-on brawl ensued.
Novoa threw a punch at Seigler and was ejected, as was Apostel. Seigler remained in the game.
It won’t ever rank among the sport’s legendary brawls, but it did add a little heat to the second game of four the teams are scheduled to play this weekend.
