SEE IT: Victor Robles Of The Nationals Is Very Fast
BUIES CREEK, N.C.–On Friday night, Potomac outfielder Victor Robles should have held up at second base and settled for a double. He instead tried to challenge Buies Creek Astros right fielder Stephen Wrenn and learned that Wrenn has an above-average arm.
Wrenn’s throw gunned out Robles, leaving Robles stuck on six triples for the year, but it did show off the speed of Nationals’ top prospect. He was timed at 11.2 seconds from home to third on the out. While that’s not as fast as Billy Hamilton or Byron Buxton (they can turn in 10.7-second triples at their best), it is a reminder of how Robles has some of the best wheels in the minors.
Robles, a Carolina League all-star who is headed to the Futures Game, is hitting .295/.387/.521 with 20 doubles, six triples, seven home runs and 13 steals.
