DUNEDIN, Fla.—After earning the nickname, “The Barrel” this spring, Yankees outfielder Blake Rutherford continued his hot hitting with a massive home run in a game against Blue Jays prospects on Thursday afternoon.
Rutherford, 19, is likely headed to low Class A Charleston with a bevy of other young prospects to begin his first full pro season. He hit .351/.415/.570 last year between two levels of Rookie-ball and worked hard to put on good weight to add power.
Judging by this afternoon’s shot, it worked.
