Scooter Gennett Becomes 17th Player To Hit Four Homers

Cincinnati native Scooter Gennett, acquired on waivers from the Brewers near the end of spring training, became the 17th player to hit four homers in a game Tuesday, going 5-for-5 with 10 RBIs in the Reds’ 13-1 win over the Cardinals.

Gennett is the first player to hit four homers in a game since Josh Hamilton in 2012, and Gennett is the first Reds player to do it.

Gennett was 0-for-19 entering Monday’s game. Since then he is 6-for-6 with a double, four homers and 12 RBIs. Entering the game, Gennett had 38 homers as a pro in 1,637 at-bats, including a career-high 14 last season.
