Schwarber Out For Season After Outfield Collision
Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL and LCL in his left knee, the team said Friday.
Schwarber was injured Thursday when he collided with center fielder Dexter Fowler chasing after a drive hit by the Diamondbacks’ Jean Segura.
Fowler crashed into Schwarber’s legs as the two came together in left center field. Segura ended up with an inside-the-park homer. Schwarber was driven off on a cart.
“I’m not going to be down in spirits,” Schwarber told reporters after the game. “We’ll just wait until (Friday) and see what happens.”
The fourth overall pick in 2014 out of Indiana, Schwarber forced his way to the majors within a year and hit 16 homers last season in just 69 games.
