Sano, Zimmerman Named Week’s Best
Twins third baseman Miguel Sano has been named American League Player of the Week and Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman was named the National League Player of the week for April 23-30, Major League Baseball announced Monday.
Sanó, 23, hit .524 (11-for-21) with four runs scored, a double, three home runs and 11 RBI in five games for the Twins. It is his first career Player of the Week award for the former six-time BA Top 100 prospect.
Zimmerman, 32, batted .500 (13-for-26) with 11 runs scored, two doubles, five home runs and 13 RBI in six games for the Nats. He is the second consecutive Nationals player to win NL Player of the Week after Bryce Harper previously took home the honor.
