Tyler Soderstrom, C, Athletics — Soderstrom is the A’s top prospect because he can really, really hit. He lived up to that reputation this weekend by going 5-for-9 with three doubles and a home run in a return to Triple-A Las Vegas. Because Triple-A HawkEye data is now public, we know his homer was no cheap shot. The ball left the bat at 113.5 mph and traveled an estimated 466 feet, the hardest and farthest hit of the day.

Osleivis Basabe, SS, Rays — Basabe came to Tampa from Texas in the deal that sent Nate Lowe to the Rangers. The 22-year-old was excellent at both High-A and Double-A in 2022 and begins the year as one of the youngest players at Triple-A. Basabe started his season strong with five hits—including a triple—in a weekend series with Norfolk. He also made a sparkling defensive play in Friday’s Opening Day tilt.

Matthew Liberatore, LHP, Cardinals — St. Louis’ No. 4 prospect started his season strong with five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against Charlotte. The 23-year-old’s fastball ranged from 92-96 mph and topped out at 98 mph. He got 16 swings and misses in 82 pitches, including 10 on his curveball. The high-spin pitch ranged between 73-78 mph.

Connor Norby, 2B, Orioles — The East Carolina alum is part of Baltimore’s enviable crop of upper-level prospects. After a slower start in 2022 at High-A, Norby moved to Double-A and found Eastern League pitching more to his liking. He produced a .960 OPS at the level before moving to Triple-A at season’s end and swatting four home runs in nine games. In nine games against Durham, Norby has five home runs, including two in three games on Opening Weekend.
