Monday’s Prospect Performers
Julio Rodriguez, OF, Mariners – The No. 2 prospect in baseball continues to put his slow start behind him. Rodriguez went 3 for 4 with a double in the Mariners 9-0 loss to the Phillies, recording all but one of Seattle’s hits in an otherwise forgettable night for the Mariners. Rodriguez is now batting .339/.397/.484 in his last 21 games, a stark turnaround from his 6 for 44 start to the year.
Jack Suwinski, OF, Pirates – Suwinski, the Pirates No. 24 prospect, hit his first career home run in the eighth inning of the Pirates 5-1 win over the Dodgers. The 23-year-old outfielder hit a two-run homer to dead center off veteran left Robbie Erlin, a blast that traveled an estimated 425 feet according the Statcast.
Brock Burke, LHP, Rangers – Burke continued to annihilate hitters out of the bullpen this year with 2.2 scoreless innings. one hit allowed, one walk and five strikeouts in the Rangers’ 1-0 loss to the Yankees. Burke lowered his ERA to 1.62 in nine appearances and now has 26 strikeouts against just four walks in 16.2 innings in relief.
Dany Jimenez, RHP, Athletics – Jimenez continues his dominant rookie season with another scoreless outing for his fifth save in the A’s 2-0 win over the Tigers. Jimenez, a two-time Rule 5 draft pick who signed as a minor league free agent with Oakland last offseason, has yet to allow an earned run in 12 appearances this season and is five for five in save opportunities.
