Josh Jung, 3B, Rangers: Jung went 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBIs to lead the Rangers in their 7-6 loss to the Reds. Jung homered in back-to-back innings off Reds lefthander Nick Lodolo, hitting a solo shot in the second inning and a two-run homer in the third inning. Jung now has five home runs on the season, most among American League rookies.
Masataka Yoshida, OF, Red Sox: The Japanese import stayed hot by going 3-for-3 with a walk in the Red Sox’s 5-4 loss to the Orioles. Yoshida has gone 10-for-20 in his last five games to raise his average from .167 to .265.
Yennier Cano, RHP, Orioles: Cano continued his impeccable start to the season and picked up his first career save on Monday. The 29-year-old rookie pitched a perfect ninth inning to secure the Orioles’ 5-4 win over the Red Sox and has retired all 20 batters he’s faced to begin the season. He became the first Orioles pitcher since Fred Holdsworth in 1976 to retire the first 20 batters he faced to start a season.
Zach Neto, SS, Angels: Neto reached base three times out of the No. 9 spot to help fuel an Angels rally in a wild, 11-10 loss to the Athletics in 10 innings. Neto hit the game-tying two-run double as the Angels rallied from a 7-1 deficit, added an infield single and was hit by a pitch in the late innings.
