Prospect Report: Faedo Is Making A Triumphant Return
Alex Faedo, RHP, Tigers – After not pitching in a game for almost three years, Faedo is rapidly making up for lost time. The 26-year-old righthander pitched 5.2 innings with four hits and one run allowed, one walk and four strikeouts to help lead the Tigers to a 3-2 win over the A’s on Monday night. The Tigers No. 20 prospect has now pitched at least five innings and allowed two runs or less in all three of his major league starts since being called up May 4. Faedo didn’t pitch in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and missed the entire 2021 season after having Tommy John surgery. After posting a 1.72 ERA in four minor league appearances this year in his return, he now has a 2.87 ERA in his first three big league starts.
Spencer Strider, RHP, Braves – Strider continues to a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing start for the Braves in their World Series title defense. The 23-year-old righthander pitched two scoreless innings of relief with one hit allowed and three strikeouts in the Braves’ 1-0 loss to the Brewers. Strider, the Braves No. 5 prospect, now has a 2.75 ERA in 10 appearances with 28 strikeouts in 22 innings of relief. With lefthander Tyler Matzek headed to the injured list with shoulder discomfort, Strider’s role only stands to grow in the Braves bullpen.
