As we progress closer to the 2019 Baseball America Prospect Pad, we continue to look back at interesting interviews from past years.
Today we take a look at Nationals OF Victor Robles, who joined the 2017 Baseball America Prospect Pad in Miami. At the time of the interview Robles was in High-A Potomac, yet he was just months away from being called up to make his big league debut.
In the interview Robles talks about his transition to America. A lot of guys can struggle in their first season stateside, but not Robles.
“To be honest it wasn’t that difficult because I put up good numbers,” said Robles through a translator.
Robles’ numbers in his first year were not just good, they were great. In his first season in America he hit .370/.484/.562 in rookie ball and continued to hit following an in-season promotion with a .343/.424/.479 clip at Low-A Auburn.
It is no doubt that Robles had dominated the minor leagues up to that point and he contributed a lot of his success to the way he plays.
“I do like to play aggressive baseball. That’s the way I feel I can do my job,” Robles said in his Prospect Pad Interview.
His aggressive style of play and exceptional minor league numbers lead him to making his debut in his age 20.
