As we get ready for the 2019 Baseball America Prospect Pad presented by Louisville Slugger, we’re looking back at highlights from past Prospect Pad interviews.
In 2016 at the Futures Game, Amed Rosario was a little over a year away from his MLB debut. The slick-fielding shortstop had just been promoted to Double-A Binghamton in the weeks before the Futures Game.
Although Rosario’s glove was always ahead of his bat, he didn’t lack for confidence at the plate either. When asked if there was a pitcher he was looking forward to facing, Rosario’s answer was simple:
“I want to face them all,” he said.
Rosario also talked about how he and Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara played and developed together as amateurs and how they keep an eye on each others careers as pros.
“He is more than a friend, he’s like a brother. We’ve grown up together and it was a pleasure and an honor to have a chance to play with him throughout his amateur career.”
