As we continue our dive into past Prospect Pad videos, we now highlight our 2017 Baseball America Prospect Pad interview with Blue Jays SS Bo Bichette. Bichette has an unorthodox swing that many questioned when he first entered pro ball. In is Prospect Pad interview he talked about where his swing originated.
“My entire life my dad has let me do what I want. He basically always told me to swing hard and try to hit it has far as I can. That’s what I have done. Everything for me is natural and it’s worked out so far,” said Bichette.
That swing has worked so far as he has accumulated a slashline of .324/.383/.514 throughout parts of four minor league seasons.
Coming up in the Blue Jays system, Bichette has had the chance to play with another top prospect in Vlad Guerrero Jr. In his Prospect Pad interview, Bichette talked about the similarities between the two.
“We both love to play baseball. We have a lot of fun. The biggest similarity between us is the focus we have on a ball field. We both like to have fun but you can tell the difference on the field and when we get our cage work and field work done,” said Bichette.
Bichette will be looking to join Vlad Jr. on the left side of the infield in Toronto soon.
