As we move towards the 2019 Baseball America Prospect Pad presented by Louisville Slugger, we continue to look back at interviews from past years.
Today, we highlight our 2018 Baseball America Prospect Pad interview with Angels OF Jo Adell. At the time of interview, Adell was halfway through his first full year of pro ball, where he already earned promotion to High-A Inland Empire and was on his way to another promotion to Double-A Mobile. In the interview, he talked about what it meant to accomplish so much just 13 months removed from high school.
“When you sit back and look at all I’ve been able to do, all I’ve been apart of already at just 19 years old, that means more than anything. To look at where you were and how far you’ve come…you get to look back and go this is unbelievable, not a lot of people get to take this path,” said Adell.
One of the things that have lead Adell to the success he has had comes from how he prepares himself. In his Prospect Pad interview, he discussed some of the things he does to continue his success.
“I have hitting notes that I keep in my phone of stuff I want to be reminded of. It’s really easy when things are going well to not even think about what you’re trying to do at the plate. To have those notes and just be able to scroll back through and look at them has been huge for me,” Adell said.
His preparation along with his athletic ability have lead to him becoming one of the elite prospects in the game.
