When Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida a week ago, the Rays’ longtime home of Tropicana Field made national headlines after having its roof ripped off by the storm’s Category 3 winds. The damage was severe enough to generate a lot of questions and very few clear answers about what will happen with the Rays’ stadium in 2025 and beyond.
To get a sense of the potential outcomes, Baseball America’s Matt Eddy and JJ Cooper talked with special guest Marc Topkin, BA’s Rays correspondent and the team’s beat writer for the Tampa Bay Times.
Topkin has already reported that the Rays know they won’t be back at the Trop for Opening Day 2025. In this podcast, he explains what happened, what the remaining unknowns are and the possible options for where the Rays could play their home games moving forward.
To read more about this situation, be sure to check out Topkin’s very detailed story.
