The Pirates continued to add late Tuesday afternoon, swinging a deal for Blue Jays do-it-all utility man Isiah Kiner-Falefa, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The return on the deal is reportedly Double-A OF Charles McAdoo, who not only comes from a famous sporting family, but nabbed himself the No. 12 spot in our most recent midseason update of Pittsburgh’s Top 30 prospects.

Age: 29
Kiner-Falefa will be a much needed boost to a struggling Pirates lineup. Defensive versatility is a key part of his game. A one-time catcher, he’s capable of playing pretty solid or above-average defense pretty much anywhere. He’s played second and third base, shortstop and center field this year while hitting .292/.338/.420 for the Blue Jays.
BLUE JAYS RECEIVE
Charles McAdoo, OF
Age: 22
McAdoo has been one of the more impressive surprises in the Pirates’ system in 2024. A 2023 13th-round pick out of San Jose State, McAdoo hit his way to Double-A Altoona by hitting .336/.415/.561 at hitter-friendly High-A Greensboro. He’s hit .269/.347/.490 since his promotion to Double-A Altoona. A distant cousin of NBA Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo, McAdoo has above-average power and bat speed. He needs to find a home defensively as he’s fringy at third base and may be better suited for right field long-term.
