NOTABLE INCLUSIONS

The Phillies top two prospects, righthander Spencer Howard (No. 1) and third baseman Alec Bohm (No. 2), are headed to Philadelphia, which isn’t much of a surprise since both could potentially help the major league team this year. The Phillies are also bringing a lot of young pitchers who could fit in their bullpen or spot start at some point including righthander Enyel De Los Santos (No. 8), lefthander JoJo Romero (No. 15), lefthander Damon Jones (No. 18), righthander Addison Russ (No. 20), righthander Mauricio Llovera (No. 25), lefthander Cole Irvin (No. 27) and righthander Connor Seabold (No. 30).

NOTABLE EXCLUSIONS

Besides Howard and Bohm, the rest of the Phillies Top 10 Prospects were left off the roster, as were all of the team’s 2020 draft picks. The most notable Top 10 exclusion was righthander Adonis Medina (No. 5). Outfielder Mickey Moniak (No. 9) is another notable omission.

PARTING THOUGHTS

The Phillies are contenders in a very stacked National League East Division. There are seven roster spots remaining with only 53 players on the current roster, but so far, the Phillies have compiled a roster focused more on the 2020 season rather than future prospect development.
