MLB Unveils Draft Order

The Phillies are on the clock.

MLB unveiled the draft order Wednesday—it won’t be official until the night of the draft on June 9—and the Phillies will pick first for just the second time. They last held the No. 1 overall pick in 1998, when they popped Pat Burrell.

The Reds, Braves, Rockies and Brewers round out the top five. The Padres (picks Nos. 8, 24 and 25) and Cardinals (Nos. 23, 33 and 34) have three picks in the first round, while the White Sox, Mets, Dodgers and Nationals each have two picks. San Diego has five picks within the first 77 choices.

Transpiring on Thursday, June 9, will be the first round, the supplemental first round (or competitive balance round A, in Major League Baseball parlance), the second round and the supplemental second round (or competitive balance round B).

Round three through 10 begin at 1 p.m. Eastern on Friday, June 10, while rounds 11-40 will run on Saturday, June 11, beginning at noon.
