A Mariners sixth-round pick out of high school in 2012, second baseman Tim Lopes turned in a fine year at Double-A Jackson this season, batting second for a Generals team that claimed the Southern League title. The 22-year-old hit .284/.358/.355 with 23 doubles and 26 stolen bases in 131 games, and he continued to produce in the SL playoffs with a .364 on-base percentage and six runs scored in seven games.

Lopes, who is the younger brother of Blue Jays Double-A second baseman Christian Lopes, is a standout defender at second base who offers speed and a contact-oriented hitting approach at the plate. He placed sixth in the SL batting race this season, for instance.
