Right fielder Yeison Asencio promptly signed with Quintana Roo of the Mexican League release following his release by the Padres. He spent two seasons on the 40-man roster in 2013 and 2014 but never advanced past Double-A San Antonio for any meaningful stretch of time. You might remember Asencio by his assumed name of Yoan Alcantara, his (three years younger) identity when he ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Rookie-level Arizona League in 2011.
