Following the devastation Hurricane Helene brought to many parts of North Carolina last month, one local minor league team has stepped up with a way to try to help the community heal.
According to MLB.com, the Asheville Tourists, High-A affiliate of the Astros, have launched a charity auction with proceeds going to a number of local charities and CareSource matching every dollar up to $100,000 with a donation to a food bank.
You can find the online auction here, which features no shortage of incredible collectibles. Here’s a quick sampling of what’s available for bidding:
- If you’re into recent prospect graduates, there’s no shortage of items to bid on, including baseballs autographed by Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz and Jackson Chourio.
- There are also baseballs autographed by current prospects such as Termarr Johnson, and lots with multiple signed balls, including one with prospect Thomas Harrington and the entire 2024 Greensboro Grasshoppers team, another with Grayson Rodriguez and Jordan Westburg of the Orioles and one featuring Marlins prospect Kyle Stowers and Nationals prospect Cade Cavalli.
- If you’re more into current players, you can check out items like an autographed print of Ronald Acuna Jr. and a bat autographed by Alex Bregman. Or if you prefer Hall of Famers, they have baseballs autographed by players including Cal Ripken Jr., George Brett, John Smoltz and Nolan Ryan.
