LSU Signee William Schmidt Posts He’s Headed To School

Righthander William Schmidt, the No. 22 prospect on the Baseball America Top 500 Draft Prospects, tweeted on Sunday afternoon that he is planning to head to Louisiana State.
Schmidt had been projected as a late first-round pick for much of the spring, but there was talk that he had a chance to get to LSU in recent weeks. In BA’s final mock draft, Schmidt was not projected to go in the first round.
Because the draft is so close, Schmidt cannot officially withdraw from the draft, but as best BA understands, Schmidt’s Tweet is an actual indication of his plans and not an attempt to drive up a potential bonus.
If Schmidt does get to LSU, he is likely to be one of, if not, the best high school pitcher to make it to school.
