U.S. Player of the Day—R.J. Vashey, New Jersey
Vashey led the way for the high-powered New Jersey offense, helping the Garden State boys get by California. The first baseman hit a solo home run in the second inning and followed that up with a two-run dinger in the third. He finished the day 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Combined with added power from teammates Charlie Meglio and J.R. Osmond, New Jersey stays alive and will move on to face Connecticut on Tuesday.
