Cole Carrigg Excites With Multiple Dimensions | High-A Best Tools

Cole Carrigg can do many things on a baseball field.

At San Diego State, Carrigg started games at every position but first base and even pitched a handful of games.

He saw a majority of his time at shortstop, center field and third base, while catching a handful of games.

His versatility was one of his selling points on draft day, when the Rockies selected him in the second round in 2023.

Since turning pro, Carrigg has seen a majority of his time in center field, where he has developed into a standout defender for High-A Spokane this season.

Northwest League managers voted him Best Defensive Outfielder, Best Outfield Arm and Most Exciting Player in Best Tools surveys.

Few players coming out of college were as tooled-up or as raw at the plate as Carrigg, but in a few short years he has honed his skills and developed into one of the more exciting all-around players in the game.

Though 89 games this season, he hit .278/.355/.469 with 11 home runs and 37 stolen bases.

Carrigg shows projectable power, feel to hit, speed on the bases and standout defensive tools in center field, including a plus throwing arm.

On any given night, Carrigg could barrel up at the plate, steal a base and make a standout player in center. That provides him a variety of pathways to a major league role.

If everything clicks for Carrigg, he could join a talented defensive outfield in Colorado anchored by Gold Glover Brenton Doyle. That day might come as early as 2025.
