A total of 34 players were named to their first all-star team this season. This season collects all their names in one place, with Futures Game (FG) appearances listed.
More than half of first-time all-stars—18 of 34—are pitchers, including 13 starting pitchers who are making their first All-Star Game appearances.

Riley Greene, Gunnar Henderson and Bobby Witt Jr. are three of the brightest lights from the incredible post-pandemic prospect classes. The Guardians have climbed from 27th in runs scored last year to seventh this year, and David Fry, Steven Kwan and Josh Naylor are three key reasons for the surge.

Garrett Crochet has been a revelation this season, his first as a starter. He leads all pitchers with 146 strikeouts and a 29.3 K-BB%. Tarik Skubal is right there with Crochet in the AL Cy Young Award race, as are Tanner Houck, Cole Ragans, Seth Lugo and Logan Gilbert. Athletics flame-throwing closer Mason Miller is a strong contender for AL Rookie of the Year.
NATIONAL LEAGUE (19)

CJ Abrams, SS, Nationals (2021 FG)
*Alec Bohm, 3B, Phillies (2019 FG)
Elly De La Cruz, SS, Reds (2022 FG)

*Jurickson Profar, OF, Padres (2011–2012 FG)
Heliot Ramos, OF, Giants (2018–2019, 2021 FG)
* Elected by fans to start game
Jackson Merrill is the rare player to go from Futures Game in one season to All-Star Game the next. In the process, he made a smooth transition from shortstop to center field. Not to be outdone, the NL also sends a tandem of first-time all-star shortstops in CJ Abrams and Elly De La Cruz.
Pitchers (12)
Tyler Glasnow, RHP, Dodgers
Hunter Greene, RHP, Reds (2018 FG)
Jeff Hoffman, RP, Phillies (2016 FG)
Shota Imanaga, LHP, Cubs
Reynaldo Lopez, RHP, Braves (2016 FG)
Tanner Scott, RP, Marlins (2017 FG)
Cristopher Sanchez, LHP, Phillies
Paul Skenes, RHP, Pirates
Matt Strahm, RP, Phillies
Ranger Suarez, LHP, Phillies
Robert Suarez, RP, Padres
Logan Webb, RHP, Giants
The No. 1 pick in the 2023 draft, Paul Skenes pitched just 34 minor league innings before making his MLB debut on May 11. Giants ace Logan Webb had surprisingly never made an all-star team until this year. While Skenes is the hardest-throwing MLB starter at 99.2 mph, Hunter Greene ranks third at 97.2. Jeff Hoffman and Tanner Scott appeared in the Futures Game as starters before remaking themselves as relievers who have combined to save 21 games this season.
