Futures Game Is Moving To Peacock Premium
The Futures Game will be changing broadcasters this year, as MLB announced on Wednesday that it will be part of the new package MLB has sold to Peacock, NBC’s streaming service.
According to a release sent out by MLB, the Futures Game, which is played every year during the all-star weekend, will be airing exclusively on Peacock Premium. Recently the Futures Game was on MLB Network. It has also aired on ESPN in the past. It’s one of the highlights of the season for fans of prospects, as it gathers many of the best prospects in baseball to play an all-star game.
Peacock Premium is the pay portion of the Peacock streaming service. There is a $4.99 monthly plan and a $9.99 monthly plan.
The date of the Futures Game was not listed in the release. It traditionally has been played on the Sunday before the MLB All-Star Game.
In addition to the Futures Game, Peacock will have a package of 18 Sunday morning/afternoon games that will stream on Peacock. The first (a May 8 11:30 a.m. White Sox at Red Sox game) will air on NBC as well, but the remaining 17 will be exclusive to Peacock Premium. That means they will not air on the team’s local networks or live on MLB.tv.
This is a further expansion of MLB games onto streaming services. MLB recently announced a deal with Apple TV+ as well.
