Fresno Grizzlies Unveil Wild Things Food Truck
It’s not unusual for minor league teams to import food from local restaurants into their ballpark. Just this year, the Durham Bulls added two local vendors—Makus empanadas and Angus Barn steakhouse—to their roster of ballpark fare. The Trenton Thunder offer crab fries from Chickie and Pete’s—a local sports bar—at Arm & Hammer Park.
Now, the Fresno Grizzlies are turning that tradition on its head and bringing their ballpark food to the public. On Tuesday, the team unveiled its new Wild Things food truck, which will set up shop during games at Chukchansi Park, will offer a selection of items from the Grizzlies’ in-park menu. The truck’s culinary selection will evolve as the season goes on, but here’s how it will look initially.
• Tacos: A cheesesteak taco and a BBQ pulled pork taco
• Fries: Flamin’ Hot Cheetos fries as well as Abuelita cocoa fries and caramel sea salt fries as a sweet & salty dessert treat
• Spam Fries: Sesame seed and seaweed-seasoned Spam Fries (Spam cut like fries and deep fried) with wasabi mayo dipping sauce
• The Urban Legends: PopRocks & cola pulled pork sliders (pulled pork with Coca-Cola BBQ sauce topped with PopRocks)
When the Grizzlies are on the road, the Wild Things truck will take to the streets of Fresno to offer citizens a taste of what they might have missed at the ballpark.
“There’s no question that food trucks are an essential part of the culture here in Fresno and throughout the Central Valley, so it only makes sense that the Grizzlies introduce one as well with one-of-a-kind items for our fans they won’t find at any other truck,” Fresno general manager Derek Franks said. “Wild Things” will soon become a Chukchansi Park staple and something our fans look forward to as a part of the complete game-day experience; it’s a ‘Growlifornia’ experience through and through.”
The Wild Things truck is a partnership between the team and Dukes Custom Catering, a local service.
