EvoShield Limited-Edition Lines Continue to Roll Out
At first, only the professionals could land an EvoShield protective elbow or leg guard in all black. But the Wilson-owned company decided why not make the color of choice available to the general public, launching what is now an entirely new effort of limited-edition designs dubbed EvoX.
The gel-to-shell technology, which starts soft and then hardens after exposure to air, allowing the wearer time to mold the item to their desired fit, comes in 11 different stock EvoCharge color patterns. But in May, EvoShield went all-black in the limited run of the EvoX. That was just the first step in the program.
Now, come Aug. 27, the company offers The Remix, its third of four special-edition EvoX offerings this season.
“It is the same technology with a different custom look,” says Riley Wancket, associate marketing manager for Wilson and part of the team leading the EvoX effort. “These are designs requested by or designed by the pros. That is how it started.”
The EvoX Black Out sold out within eight days. Then came the early July Red, White and Blue option, timed with the Fourth of July and the All-Star game in Washington, D.C. EvoShield upped the quantities by 100 and still sold out within three weeks of launching.
In this, the first-ever effort of limited-edition products from EvoShield, Wancket said they couldn’t be more pleased with the response.
“Each time we come out with EvoX, we try to come out with something unique,” he said. “We want to change things up. Most of these products are stemmed from demand, by pros but also by consumers. We listen on social media when people send us message and take that stuff into consideration all the time. The EvoX is an opportunity to bring some of that to life.”
The Remix marks the third EvoX offering, with a fourth scheduled for the holiday season. The EvoX idea isn’t limited to only protection equipment, though, as anything with a limited-edition run can get the EvoX treatment, whether a shirt, hat or any other product not available widely. EvoShield has done special Spring Training and All-Star Game designs so far.
“It is exciting,” Wancket said. “It gives us the freedom to try some new things out, to have some fun with our gear.”
