Dominican Prospect League Adds International Scouting Series After Under Armour Game
The Under Armour All-America Game at Wrigley Field in Chicago is one of the most heavily scouted events for clubs watching top high school prospects eligible for the draft the following year. This year, that week will draw international scouts to the Chicago area as well.
Today, the Dominican Prospect League announced it will hold the “Dominican Prospect League Elite Underclass International Series, powered by Baseball Factory” beginning the day after the Under Armour All-America Game. The event will be from July 30 to Aug. 2 at Silver Cross Field in Joilet, Illinois. The DPL’s international roster will include 36 amateur prospects from the 2018 and 2019 class from the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Panama and the Bahamas, with games against each other and against high school prospects from the United States.
While high school prospects for the 2018 draft can play in the Under Armour All-America Game, Major League Baseball bans international players from being on an MLB facility until they are 16 or within six months from being eligible to sign, so the international players won’t participate in that game since it’s at Wrigley Field.
