Columbia, St. Lucie Set To Give Out Tim Tebow Bobbleheads

It’s not likely Tim Tebow will play for the Columbia Fireflies again. He opened the season with the Mets’ low Class A club and stayed until June 27, when he was promoted to high Class A St. Lucie.

He’ll return for one night late next month, just a lot smaller than fans might remember. On Aug. 30, the Fireflies are giving away a bobblehead version of Tebow for the first 2,000 fans through the gates at Spirit Communications Park.

Tebow’s pose on the figurine was inspired by the follow-through on the swing of the home run he hit on April 6 in his first professional at-bat outside of the Arizona Fall League and the Mets’ fall instructional league.

If Tebow fans are up for a road trip, they can score two bobbleheads of their favorite Florida Gators quarterback turned Mets outfielder in a 72-hour span by driving south to Florida’s East coast. There, the St. Lucie Mets will give out their own Tebow bobblehead on Sept. 1.

Tebow played his first game with St. Lucie on June 28, and since then has helped his new club set a franchise attendance record. He did the same with Columbia, and he’s helped spike attendances and cash registers throughout the South Atlantic and Florida State Leagues all season long.

St. Lucie’s bobblehead of Tebow features the soon-to-be 30-year-old with a bat draped across his brawny shoulders with a gator standing guard at his feet. The St. Lucie Mets play just more than 3 hours from Tebow’s alma mater in Gainesville, so attracting fans to First Data Field has been made that much easier.

Their version of the bobblehead will be given to the first 2,000 fans as well, and can be guaranteed with the purchase of a $20 ticket package. A portion of that cost will be donated to the Hibiscus Foundation and the Tim Tebow Foundation on behalf of Florida Power and Light (the promotion’s sponsor) and the Mets.
