College Top 25 (March 21)

Florida opened Southeastern Conference play with a sweep of Missouri, extending its winning streak to 15 games, and retained its top spot in the Baseball America Top 25 rankings, powered by Louisville Slugger.

The top three teams remained the same this week, but behind Florida, Texas A&M and Oregon State, the rankings saw some shakeups. Miami, following a series win against Louisville, and Texas Christian moved into the top five for the first time this season. North Carolina (No. 6), Mississippi (No. 7) and Mississippi State (No. 10), coming off a series win at Vanderbilt, all joined the top 10.

Four teams enter the Top 25 this week. Clemson joins the rankings at No. 17, with Palmetto State rival South Carolina following at No. 18. Following its first series win at Louisiana State since 1996, Alabama comes in at No. 22 and UC Santa Barbara enters at No. 24. Clemson, South Carolina and UC Santa Barbara are all ranked for the first time this season, while Alabama rejoins the Top 25 after a week’s absence.

The SEC leads all conferences with nine teams in the rankings. The Atlantic Coast Conference has seven representatives, while the Big West Conference has two teams ranked for the first time this season.

Falling out of the rankings are Louisiana-Lafayette, Oregon, College of Charleston and Michigan State. All four lost weekend series.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of March 20 and do not include ties.
