College Top 25 (April 11)

For the first time since June 10, 2008, Miami is the top-ranked team in Baseball America’s Top 25, powered by Louisville Slugger.

Miami was ranked No. 2 last week, and ascends to the top spot after extending its winning streak to nine games with victories against Florida Gulf Coast and Notre Dame, while its in-state rival Florida was upended by Mississippi State. The Bulldogs climb to No. 2, their highest ranking since they were national runners-up in 2013, while the Gators fall to No. 3. Texas A&M and South Carolina round out the top five.

Texas Tech is the biggest mover in this week’s rankings, jumping from No. 23 to No. 15 after splitting a pair of midweek games at Florida State and sweeping Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Rice also made a big jump, moving from No. 25 to No. 19, following its sixth straight weekend series victory.

Four new teams enter the Top 25 this week. North Carolina State re-enters the rankings at No. 20 after a two-week absence. South Alabama joins at No. 23, followed by Tulane and Southern Mississippi. For South Alabama, which is 15-0 in the Sun Belt Conference, it is the first time in the Top 25 since May 20, 2013. Tulane makes its first appearance in the rankings since March 21, 2011, while Southern Mississippi is ranked for the first time since Feb. 25, 2013.

The Southeastern Conference leads all conference with eight representatives, including four in the top five. The Atlantic Coast Conference has five teams in the rankings.

Falling out of the Top 25 are Oklahoma State, Clemson, East Carolina and Houston.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through April 10 and do not include ties.
