Coming off a sweep of Arizona that extended its winning streak to 15 games, Oregon State ascends to the top spot in Baseball America’s Top 25, powered by Louisville Slugger.

Oregon State improved to 20-1 this season, matching its 1962 team for the best start in program history. The Beavers have been dominant on the mound this spring and lead the country with a 1.25 team ERA. As a result, Oregon State moves to No. 1 for the first time since May 19, 2014.

Oregon State takes over the top spot from Louisville, which had been No. 1 for the last two weeks and falls to No. 2. The Cardinals went 2-2 last week, as their 19-game winning streak to open the season was snapped. Texas Christian remains No. 3, and Texas Tech and Clemson move into the top five for the first time this year.

Five teams join the Top 25 this week. Kentucky leads the newcomers at No. 16, followed by two fellow Southeastern Conference teams—Auburn at No. 18 and Arkansas at No. 21. Houston joins the rankings at No. 23, followed by Wake Forest at No. 24. All five newcomers are ranked for the first time this season.

Falling out of the Top 25 are Louisiana-Lafayette, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Washington and Michigan.

The SEC leads all conference with seven teams in the rankings. The Atlantic Coast Conference follows with six representatives.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through March 26 and do not include ties.
