Louisville remained undefeated this season with a 4-0 week, extending its winning streak to 19 games, and retained its top spot in the Baseball America Top 25, powered by Louisville Slugger.
The Cardinals are off to the best start in program history and are the last undefeated team in the country. They have outscored their opponents 169-43 this season.
Oregon State rises to No. 2 this week, its highest ranking since it was No. 2 going into the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Texas Christian, Louisiana State and Cal State Fullerton round out the top five, with Clemson, South Carolina, Texas Tech, Arizona and North Carolina following.
Mississippi and Florida Gulf Coast were the rankings’ biggest movers in a positive direction this week. The Rebels jumped up seven spots to No. 11, while the Eagles soared nine spots to No. 12, their highest ranking ever. Florida State, which gave up 30 runs in losing the final two games of a series at Virginia Tech, was the biggest mover in the other direction, dropping 12 spots to No. 14.
Two teams join the Top 25 this week. Missouri enters the rankings at No. 18 and Oklahoma joins at No. 24. Missouri was last in the Top 25 on May 4, 2015, while Oklahoma last was ranked on Feb. 22, 2016. Falling out of the Top 25 are 2016 national champion Coastal Carolina and Texas A&M. Both lost weekend series to open conference play, with the Aggies swept at home by Kentucky.
The Atlantic Coast Conference, Big 12 Conference and Southeastern Conference all have five teams in the rankings, leading all conferences. The Pacific-12 Conference follows with four representatives.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through March 19 and do not include ties.
