College Baseball Rankings Top 25 For April 3
Oregon State went 4-0 last week to extend its winning streak to a program-record 19 games, and remains atop the Baseball America Top 25, powered by Louisville Slugger.
Oregon State swept Stanford (previously ranked 15th) to improve to 9-0 in Pacific-12 Conference action, becoming the first Pac-12 team to win its first nine conference games since the league eliminated its division format in 1999. During their winning streak, the Beavers have outscored opponents 124-37.
Louisville and Texas Christian remain Nos. 2 and 3. North Carolina climbs to No. 4 after sweeping Florida State, and Clemson rounds out the top five.
Auburn and Oklahoma both made a big jump up the rankings after winning home series against top-10 opponents. Auburn, which also has swept Florida, beat South Carolina and moves to No. 7, its highest ranking since March 15, 2004. Oklahoma follows at No. 9 after a series win against Texas Tech. It is the Sooners’ highest appearance in the Top 25 since April 8, 2013.
Four teams join the Top 25 this week. Long Beach State leads the newcomers at No. 19, followed by Southern Mississippi at No. 21 and Mississippi State at No. 22. Maryland joins the rankings at No. 25. Southern Miss and Mississippi State are ranked for the first time this season, while Long Beach and Maryland return to the Top 25 for the first time since the preseason.
Falling out of the Top 25 are Mississippi, Baylor, Houston and East Carolina. All four had losing weekends.
The Southeastern Conference leads all conferences with seven teams in the rankings. The Atlantic Coast Conference follows with six representatives.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through April 2 and do not include ties.
