Coach’s Take: Cardinals RHP Alex Reyes
Former major league pitcher and minor league pitching coach Chris Gissell will periodically break down the mechanics of pitching prospects for Baseball America. Today, he breaks down video of Cardinals’ No. 1 prospect Alex Reyes.
Gissell was drafted by the Cubs in the fourth round in 1996 out of high school in Vancouver, Wash. He pitched for 14 years with the Cubs, Rockies, Cardinals, A’s and in Japan and Taiwan, reaching the majors with the Rockies in 2004. After his playing career was over, Gissell was a pitching coach for the Angels in low Class A Cedar Rapids and Rookie-level Orem.
He stepped away from baseball after the 2014 season and now is the owner and operator of Baseball Dudes and BaseballDudes.com, devoted to the training and development of youth baseball players.
