Braves’ Matt Marksberry Treated For Severe Dehydration
Braves lefthander Matt Marksberry is being treated for severe dehydration, according to reports.
Marksberry, 26, is in an Orlando-area hospital. A Braves spokesman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution only that Marksberry was being treated for “severe dehydration.” Because it was a non-baseball illness, HIPAA laws prevent the Braves from disclosing more information.
A report from Fox Sports—citing a family friend—claimed Marksberry had a seizure and that his lung collapsed during a medical procedure.
The Braves drafted Marksberry in the 15th round in 2013 out of Campbell. He’s pitched parts of the last two seasons with the Braves, going 0-3, 5.35 in 35 relief appearances. He pitched most of 2016 at Triple-A Gwinnett and went 4-2, 2.65 out of the bullpen. He missed the final two months of the season on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.
