Travis Sykora Leads FredNats To Carolina League Title

When Kannapolis forced a deciding Game 3 of the Carolina League Championship Series, the Fredericksburg Nationals had an ace in the hole. Travis Sykora, the best pitcher in the league, held Kannapolis to just one baserunner (a Jeral Perez single that was erased when Perez was thrown out trying to go to second). Sykora struck out five of the first six hitters he faced and fanned nine overall. A Brandon Pimentel two-run homer gave the FredNats all the runs they needed, as Fredericksburg won the Nationals’ first MiLB title since 2014.
