Quinn Mathews Promoted To Triple-A

It was only a matter of time before Quinn Mathews was promoted to Triple-A. That news came on Wednesday afternoon when Mathews was sent to Triple-A Memphis. After nine starts with Double-A Springfield Mathews leaves behind excellent production. The lefthander pitched to a 2.41 ERA, .185 opponents batting average and 33.8% strikeout rate over those nine starts. Mathews will pitch at his fourth level this season, climbing each rung of the full season minor league ladder. With improved stuff from his amateur days Mathews has climbed well inside the Top 100 list and could be an option for the Cardinals next season. The current minor league leader in strikeouts, Mathews will see how his stuff plays at the minors highest level to end the season.
