Phillies Add Andrew Painter To Arizona Fall League
On Opening Day of the Arizona Fall League, the Phillies made the decision to send their top prospect to the desert. Righthander Andrew Painter, who missed all of 2023 and 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, will join a Phillies group on Glendale that also includes a host of rehabbers, including righties Wen-Hui Pan and Christian McGowan, infielder Bryan Rincon and outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr.
In 2022, Painter was named Baseball America’s Minor League Pitcher of the Year after becoming the rare high school pitcher to reach Double-A in his first full season as a pro. That year, he went 6-2, 1.56 with 155 strikeouts and 25 walks in 103.2 innings.
