Mason Barnett Gets Corpus Christi … Hook, Line and Sinker

The A’s beefed up their farm system this summer by trading some of their valuable players to contending clubs. One such deal sent closer Lucas Erceg to Kansas City and netted them a return that included righthander Mason Barnett. The Auburn alum and 2022 third-rounder was on his game on Tuesday, when he punched out nine Corpus Christi hitters over seven shutout innings with just two hits and three walks. Barnett has been outstanding since making the intra-Texas League move from Northwest Arkansas to Midland. Tuesday’s outing was the third time he’s gone seven innings this season, all of which have come in his last five turns. He now has 52 strikeouts against 13 walks in his time in the A’s organization.
