Mason Barnett Continues Dominant Stretch With A’s

In spring training, Mason Barnett opened eyes with his mid-90s fastball and wipeout slider. He showed flashes of his potential during the regular season, and in doing so piqued enough evaluators’ interest to become part of the package used to bring reliever Lucas Erceg to Kansas City. Since switching organizations, the righthander has turned it up a notch or three. The run of dominance continued in the first game of the Texas League division series, when he spun six shutout innings with two hits, two walks and seven strikeouts in the process of besting Winston Santos and Frisco. Combined with the regular season, Barnett has now posted these numbers in September: 19 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 8 BB, 25 Ks.
