D-Backs’ Spencer Giesting Earns Win In Double-A Debut

After a tremendous start to the season with High-A Hillsboro, D-Backs lefthander Spencer Giesting got the bump to Double-A before the week. He made his Double-A debut on Wednesday and earned the win for Amarillo. Giesting went 6.2 innings allowing four runs (two earned), on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Giesting is a lefty with a prototypical starter’s build and a horizontal arm angle that keeps hitters off balance. He mixes a low-90s four-seamer, an upper-80s cutter, a low-80s sweeper, an upper-70s two-plane curveball and a split-change. Giesting has a deep repertoire that keeps opposing hitters off balance.
