Braxton Ashcraft Strikes Out A Dozen

A year ago, Braxton Ashcraft reintroduced himself to the sport after missing the 2022 season with Tommy John surgery. This year, he’s making it loud and clear that he’s one of the best prospects in the Pirates’ system. On Thursday he punched out a dozen Richmond hitters over the course of seven innings of four-run ball. His 22 whiffs were the most garnered by any Double-A pitcher on the evening. The outing was Ashcraft’s second with 10 or more strikeouts this season and brought his overall line to 63 strikeouts against just eight walks in 53.2 innings at Double-A.
