Baseball Factory, Motus Global Partner

Rockville Centre, N.Y. and Columbia, Md.—Baseball Factory, a company specializing in player development and college guidance of high school baseball players, is excited to announce a partnership with Motus Global, the leader in biomechanics for sports injury prevention and performance analysis.

Motus Global has been named as the Official Sports Injury Prevention Partner of Baseball Factory and the technology will be integrated into events across the nation. Baseball Factory will use the motusTHROW device to capture player data for use in injury prevention and training. This data will have a major impact on how players use and train their throwing arm, providing them with important analysis of the stress on their arm, arm angle/slot, arm speed and shoulder rotation.

“At Baseball Factory, we feel it is extremely important to provide players with access to as much quality data as possible,” said Jason Budden, SVP of Partnerships & Brand at Baseball Factory. “This partnership with Motus Global will help us to better educate our players on exactly how their throwing arm is performing. This data and overall knowledge will be key in preventing injuries and pinpointing areas for improvement. The motusTHROW device will play an important role in training and injury prevention for our players. We are very excited for the impact this partnership will have on our athletes.”

“When we were approved as the first in-game technology by Major League Baseball, it was an exciting and important day for our Company. That being said, the partnership with Baseball Factory may be just as important for the sport and our Company.” said Ben Hansen, VP & CTO of Motus. “To truly accomplish our goal of better understanding pitching workloads and injury factors, we need to monitor these athletes across their entire baseball career. Baseball Factory is providing a gateway to some of the most talented players in the country before they begin their college careers.”

While players at all positions are encouraged to use the motusTHROW device to gain a better understanding of how their throwing arm is working, there are additional features specifically for pitchers. This includes a bullpen mode where pitchers can chart specific pitches and how well they hit their spots. Players are able to breakdown the arm speed on their fastball versus their change-up, to see if they are tipping the pitch. They can also review the stress being put on their arm based on different pitches, and their arm angle/slot on each pitch.

The motusTHROW device also measures both total throws and high effort throws. With a true understanding of the impact of those high effort throws and the stress they put on a player’s arm, the device is able to provide suggested numbers for high effort throws each day. Having this information is key to taking a systematic approach to arm care and ultimately providing the best chance to avoid injury.
